The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Sharad Pawar, is set to organize ‘Tractor Morchas’ throughout the state to protest the perceived failure of the Eknath Shinde government in addressing the agrarian crisis exacerbated by unseasonal rains and drought in various regions of the state.
State NCP president Jayant Patil announced that he will personally lead a tractor march in Jalgaon on November 30, followed by Nashik on December 1, and Amravati on December 5.
“We will also present a memorandum to the district collectors,” stated Patil.
Taking a direct stance against the government, Patil criticized its handling of the situation, pointing out that despite numerous assurances regarding crop insurance and support, financial aid has not reached the farmers. “In Vidarbha, Marathwada, and North Maharashtra, the standing crops have been completely destroyed. The government has yet to initiate the necessary assessments, leaving farmers waiting for financial assistance,” Patil emphasized.
He further highlighted that crucial matters have been delayed by the Mahayuti government due to a lack of consensus among the three coalition partners.
