The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Sharad Pawar revealed that the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has issued a notice to Rohit Pawar, an NCP MLA and the CEO of Baramati Agro Ltd, instructing him to shut down a section of the company.
Baramati Agro Ltd is involved in various sectors, including animal and poultry feed manufacturing, sugar and ethanol production, power co-generation, agri-commodity trading, fruits and vegetables, and dairy products. The company’s registered office is situated in Baramati, the ancestral home of the Pawar family.
Rohit Pawar, who is the grand-nephew of Sharad Pawar, claimed that he received the MPCB notice at 2 am, referring to it as a “post-midnight action” allegedly prompted by “two influential leaders” in the state, driven by “hatred.” The notice directed him to close down a specific unit within his company.
The 37-year-old MLA, representing the Karjat-Jamkhed constituency in Ahmednagar district, voiced his belief that the MPCB’s actions were politically motivated, pointing out his vocal stance on various issues.
In his words, “When faced with challenges, the struggle does not cease. I will confront this battle. The uniqueness of the Marathi people is their unwavering commitment and loyalty. To those responsible for this action, I wish to convey that I entered the business world before politics.”
Pawar further emphasized, “Many individuals have entered politics and subsequently accumulated significant wealth. However, such actions will yield nothing. The younger generation disapproves of politics based on hatred and vengeance.”
He expressed his conviction that the truth was on his side, reassuring his family and company employees. Pawar even extended his gratitude to the government, considering this notice as a “birthday gift.” He announced his intention to legally contest these actions.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Tapase, the chief spokesperson of the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), alleged that the Eknath Shinde government feared Rohit Pawar due to his passionate advocacy of Sharad Pawar’s progressive and secular principles.
