A seaman II rank Indian Navy personnel 19-year-old Sahil Verma, has gone missing from an Indian Navy ship. The young sailor Sahil Verma, who hails from Gho Manhasa area of Jammu, was last seen aboard the vessel on Tuesday morning, with his disappearance relayed to his family on Thursday by the Indian Navy.

Sahil Verma, who joined the Indian Navy in 2022, has left his family and Navy officials bewildered as the circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain shrouded in uncertainty. In response to the alarming situation, the Indian Navy has initiated a Naval Board of Inquiry to delve into the matter comprehensively.

Sahil’s father, Subash Chander, told Daily Guardian that they received the distressing call from the Ship Captain on February 29th, notifying them of their son’s disappearance. “They told me that a search operation is underway as he hasn’t been captured in any of the cameras, jumping out of the ship,” he added.

Mother Rama Kumari, fondly calling him ‘Shalu’, pleaded for his safe return. “We aren’t aware of what has happened to him. They should find where he has gone,” she implored. Meanwhile, Sahil’s brother Shivam has been actively engaged with Indian Navy authorities since his brother went missing on the 27th, just two days after the ship’s departure.

Indian Navy issued a statement acknowledging the unfortunate incident and affirming their commitment to a rigorous search operation. “Naval Board of Inquiry has been ordered for detailed investigations,” the statement concluded, as the search for Sahil Verma continues, both at sea and in the hearts of his distraught family.
