Navjot Sidhu, a Punjab Congress politician, stated on Sunday that the “INDIA alliance stands like a tall mountain” amid persistent tensions inside the party about an alliance with AAP to contest the 2024 general election together.
The Punjab Congress leader further stated that Punjab must recognize that this election is to select India’s Prime Minister, not the Chief Minister of Punjab.
“The I.N.D.I.A alliance stands like a tall mountain, a storm here and there will not affect its Grandeur !!! Any attempt to sabotage and breach this shield to safeguard our Democracy will prove futile. Punjab must understand that this is an election to choose India‘s Prime Minister and not Punjab‘s Chief Minister !!! #JudegaBharatJeetegaIndia,” posted Sidhu on X.
This comes after Punjab Congress officials voiced outrage, calling the arrest of Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira in connection with a 2015 drugs case a “political vendetta.”
In connection with a 2015 drugs case, a Punjab court sentenced Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira to 14 days in judicial detention on Saturday.
“The police requested a seven-day remand. The judge denied the police’s motion after reviewing the material. “The court sentenced him to 14 days judicial remand,” the counsel said.
