Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced a special package of ₹564 crore on Friday to aid the state’s flood-affected areas and people. Speaking on the third day of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, CM Saha highlighted the severe damage caused by recent floods, which affected roads, bridges, power lines, agriculture, fish ponds, animal resources, and homes.

“National highways, state, and rural roads were flooded, and farmlands and reservoirs were submerged. The initial estimate of the damage is around ₹14,247 crore. District magistrates and departmental officers are assessing the damage, and the state will submit a memorandum to the Union Home Ministry for additional relief funds,” said Saha.

In response to the devastation, the state government has announced an immediate relief and recovery package. “The total package of ₹564 crore will come from state funds. Though it will take months to fully recover, this package will provide relief to those affected and continue the state’s development efforts,” he added.

Key highlights of the package include ₹70 crore for the Food and Civil Supplies Department, which will provide 10 kg of additional rice per ration card for two months, benefiting about 9.8 lakh cardholders. The agriculture sector will receive ₹15 crore for seeds, fertilizers, and other support, while ₹5 crore is allocated for horticulture to aid winter vegetable and flower cultivation.

The package also includes ₹10 crore for fish production, ₹5 crore for animal welfare, ₹12 crore for educational support, ₹50 crore for drinking water supply, and ₹52 crore for urban and rural infrastructure repairs. Additional allocations include ₹10 crore for health sector support, ₹35 crore for water resources, ₹100 crore for power infrastructure restoration, and ₹200 crore for road and drainage reconstruction.
