Hyderabad:
Addressing a press conference at the CLP Office, Dr. Venkat said the Chief Minister firmly believes that education is the most powerful tool to eradicate poverty and empower society. Holding the Education portfolio himself, Revanth Reddy has been working relentlessly to strengthen government schools and provide quality education to underprivileged sections.
He said the government’s reforms and people-centric governance in education are receiving nationwide recognition. While the administration is striving to transform government schools into institutions that can compete with corporate educational establishments, some opposition leaders are making baseless allegations for political gains, he remarked.
Dr. Venkat criticized BRS MLC K. Kavitha for her comments on education reforms, saying she had remained silent during the previous decade when government education was allegedly neglected, teacher recruitment was stalled, and public schools deteriorated. He accused her of targeting the government despite its efforts to provide quality education to poor, Dalit, backward, and minority communities.
Highlighting key initiatives, he said the government has upgraded 120 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, transformed 93 KGBVs into Centres of Excellence, and established 47 new schools. Welfare measures such as breakfast schemes in schools, midday meals in junior colleges, increased diet charges for hostel students, and enhanced funding for student welfare are being implemented effectively.
The Government Whip said the flagship Integrated School initiative, described as a “game changer” in public education, has already commenced. More than 100 constituencies are witnessing school infrastructure development worth ₹20,000 crore, with each institution being built at an estimated cost of ₹200 crore and equipped with world-class facilities.
He added that Telangana Public Schools, on the lines of the model school at Arutla, will be established across mandals, offering education from nursery to Class XII, free transport, nutritious meals, and additional academic support. Dr. Venkat assured teachers that school rationalisation would not reduce jobs but would improve educational quality, infrastructure, and resource utilisation.
“The Chief Minister’s goal is to reverse the trend of students moving to private institutions. Within the next two years, Telangana’s government schools will become a benchmark for the nation,” he said.
