External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar showcased his signature humor during a recent interview when faced with a tricky rapid-fire question.

In an interview with a news outlet, Jaishankar was asked a playful yet politically sensitive question: Who would he choose to have dinner with—North Korean leader Kim Jong Un or billionaire George Soros?

Watch the video here:

Without missing a beat, Jaishankar skillfully navigated the situation, joking, “I think this is Navratri, I am fasting,” while smiling. His witty remark drew laughter from both the interviewer and the audience, and the moment quickly gained traction on social media.

George Soros, known for his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is frequently accused by the BJP of supporting anti-India movements and seeking regime changes to promote Western interests. On the other hand, Kim Jong Un, North Korea’s authoritarian leader, presents a different set of diplomatic complexities.

Jaishankar’s sharp reply allowed him to avoid being caught in the controversies surrounding either figure.

This isn’t the first time the seasoned diplomat has made headlines with his sharp wit. At a recent event, he was asked by a foreign journalist whether the US is a declining power, to which he responded, “You don’t have to convince me about that.” This clever comment quickly went viral.

Jaishankar’s skill in addressing delicate issues with humor was also evident when he was questioned about his behavior during an upcoming visit to Pakistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit. With his usual wit, he replied, “I’m a courteous and civil person, I will behave myself accordingly,” earning applause from the audience.
