Relief From Heat As Rains Lash Kashmir, More Rain Expected Till August 7

The long-standing heatwave and dry spell in Kashmir have been broken by a welcome bout of rain, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures. The Meteorological Department has forecasted intermittent rains to persist until August 7.

According to officials from the Meteorological Department, there is a significant likelihood of intermittent rain across the region over the coming days. Specifically, on July 29, residents can expect generally cloudy weather with light to moderate rain and occasional thundershowers in many parts of the Kashmir Division and most parts of the Jammu Division.

Moving into the end of July, on the 30th and 31st, the weather is predicted to remain generally cloudy, accompanied by intermittent spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers across numerous locations in the Kashmir Division and widespread areas in the Jammu Division.

From August 1 to 7, the forecast continues to predict generally cloudy skies with intermittent light to moderate rain and thundershowers expected in many parts of the Kashmir Division and most areas in the Jammu Division.

In an advisory, the Meteorological Department has warned of the potential for intense showers over brief periods, which could lead to flash floods, cloudbursts, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in vulnerable areas of Jammu and Kashmir. There is also the possibility of heavy rainfall in some parts of the Jammu Division.

Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this period of unstable weather.
