Police harassing opposition party workers, claims Adhir Ranjan

West Bengal State Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury claims that the state ruling party is misusing police and scaring opposition workers ahead of the Lok Sabha election.

During the election campaign, while talking to the media, Bengal Congress President and Congress candidate from Berhampore Lok Sabha seat Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that TMC is misusing the local police and scaring opposition workers to not work for their respective parties ahead of the Lok Sabha election.

“As the elections are approaching, misuse of police is increasing in the state. The situation is such that booth-level workers of Congress and the Left Front cannot participate in the election work, for these people are being harassed by the police on the instructions of the Trinamool Congress,” said the Bengal Congress president.

Adhir said that the emphasis is being laid on increasing the party’s assets while emptying the state treasury. The proof of this is the flourishing of the lottery business in the state.

People involved in this business are filling the coffers of the Trinamool Congress by selling fake lotteries and avoiding paying taxes to the state government. This can be proved by the electoral bonds of Rs 600 crore issued by people associated with the lottery business.

Further, Adhir also slammed the BJP-led central government and said that the central government is using ED and CBI as tools, and the situation is that till now, ED and CBI have taken action against 25 big opposition leaders in the country. Out of these 25 accused, 23 people joined the BJP. As soon as these people joined the BJP, the allegations against them evaporated overnight.
