A playground was built in Dhakoli area by the government with the objective of promoting sports and improving the talents of the youth. Lakhs of rupees have been spent by the Municipal Council in building this playground but now due to negligence, the condition of the playground is deteriorating day by day. Due to the indifference of the Municipal Council, the ground has not been cleaned for a long time and due to this, heaps of garbage have started piling up in the ground. Big grass has grown in the ground and heaps of garbage have started piling up but the Municipal Council officials are not bothered. Footpaths have been built all around the ground but due to lack of maintenance, the footpaths have also started breaking. The ground is full of potholes and at many places there is big grass. In the name of facilities, poles have been installed here only for football goal net and cricket net has been made. Apart from this, poles have been installed for badminton net. This ground is surrounded by the walls of societies from all sides and now people are throwing garbage here. Due to the poor condition of the playground, players are not showing any interest in coming to this ground.
Due to the incomplete playground, the young players living in Dhakoli and nearby societies are facing a lot of problems. The players say that despite having a playground in their area, they have to go to Panchkula. If this ground is maintained properly, they can practice here.
The current situation is that the ground is full of thorny bushes, aak trees, sharp stones and pits. The playground has become a pasture for cows and buffaloes. Not only this, the laborers working in the buildings under construction nearby are using this ground for open defecation.
According to the people, this place was developed as a ground during the Akali-BJP government. After the change of government, no attention was paid to this ground even during the tenure of Congress. Now the government has changed again and no attention is being paid to this ground even in the Aam Aadmi Party government. If people are to be believed, the foundation stone of this ground has been laid three times.
