Newly-Wed Bride Assaulted By Five Men, Husband Forced To Witness; Incident Filmed On Phones

In a tragic incident in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, a newly married woman was gang-raped near a well-known picnic area. Eight individuals have been arrested, with five men allegedly committing the assault while three others recorded the horrific act. One of the attackers reportedly claimed to be the son of a local media officer, suggesting he was above the law.

The victim recounted the traumatic experience, stating, “We visited Bhairo Baba Temple for a darshan, and while returning, we stopped briefly. A man approached us and began harassing us. As we tried to leave, four more men appeared, blocking our way and assaulting us.” Despite their desperate pleas, the group continued to threaten them, with one saying, “I’m the son of a media in-charge; the police can’t touch us.”

The couple repeatedly pleaded with the attackers, explaining they were newly married, but their cries were ignored. The men escalated their violence, physically restraining the couple and making threats. “Five men took turns raping me in front of my husband, all while recording it on their phones,” the victim reported.

Throughout the assault, the attackers mocked the couple, asserting that neither the police nor local officials could help them. The victim alleged that the group boasted about having committed similar attacks before. During an attempt to flee, the assailants stole their valuables, including mobile phones and motorcycle keys. When her husband tried to intervene, he was brutally beaten and even struck with stones as he tried to protect their belongings.
