MCD polls: Delhi Congress Chief’s Name Missing From Voters’ List

Anil Chaudhary, the president of the Delhi Congress, asserted that when he reached the voting location to cast his ballot for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections on Sunday, he discovered his name was missing from the voters’ list.

According to Chaudhary, his name is neither on the voters’ list nor on the deleted list.

“My name is neither on the voter list nor in the deleted list. My wife has voted. Officials are checking it,” said the Delhi Congress president, who arrived at a polling booth in Dallupura to cast his vote.

There are 250 wards up for election, which will end at 5:30 p.m.

The high-stakes civic elections, which are primarily considered a three-way race between the BJP, the AAP, and the Congress, will feature around 1.45 crore eligible voters and 1,349 candidates.

AAP and BJP ran loud campaigns in Delhi that helped major politicians.

On December 7, the votes will be tallied.

Data from the State Election Commission shows that there are 1,45,05,358 registered voters in Delhi overall, including 78,93,418 men, 66,10,879 women, and 1 061 transgender people. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has 250 wards.

13,638 voting places have been put up by the Delhi State Election Commission.

According to the State Election Commission, a sizable team of election officials and security organisations made enormous efforts to make the necessary preparations for holding elections at 13,638 polling stations dispersed throughout Delhi. For the benefit of the voters’ quality experience, 68 model polling stations and 68 pink polling stations have also been established. The necessary preparations have been made for the deployment of the forces.

This is the first civic election after the fresh delimitation exercise. There were 272 wards in Delhi and three corporations- NDMC, SDMC, and EDMC in Delhi from 2012–2022, which later reunified into an MCD that had formally come into existence on May 22.
