JAMMU, July 10: In response to the recent terror attack in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir Police have initiated a large-scale anti-tunnel and anti-drone drive along the international border in Samba. This operation is being conducted under the supervision of SP-SOG Guru Ram Bhardwaj, who emphasized the importance of search operations for maintaining security in the region.
Security forces have intensified search operations in the Kathua and Samba districts, days after five Army soldiers were martyred in an ambush by terrorists on July 8.
Speaking to The Daily Guardian about the need for these operations, Bhardwaj stated, “This is a routine search operation and aerial domination exercise… Whenever such incidents (terrorist attacks) happen, it becomes imperative for us to ensure the safety of the area that falls under our jurisdiction.”
He highlighted the proximity of the Kathua terror attack to the border area, noting, “Joint exercises are regular, and since the area is close to the border, regular search operations and monitoring activities in the area become a necessity.”
Sources indicate that security forces suspect terrorists may be using tunnels to infiltrate from the Pakistan side. This suspicion has intensified the focus on detecting and neutralizing such tunnels.
