A suspicious IED (Improvised explosive device) like Object has been recovered on Monday early morning along National highway at palpora Palhallan in Pattan area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Official Sources told that a Suspicious Bag likely an IED has been found at National Highway near a private school in palpora Palhallan area of pattan. Subsequently a team of police, 29RR of the army, SSB and CRPF rushed to the spot.
Meanwhile Bomb Disposal Squad has been Called up to ascertain the object. Security officials said that major terror attack was averted with the recovery of the IED on the busy highway.
He also added that a suspect object was found in the Hanjivera area of Pattan by the security forces during the Road Opening Procedure (ROP), a drill that is executed every day to secure the national highway. Hundreds of vehicles of Army, central armed police forces (CAPFs and VVIPs) use this highway every day.
The area was immediately cordoned off, and the traffic movement on the busy highway was halted on both sides of the national highway as a precautionary measure.
A bomb disposal squad was summoned to neutralise the suspected IED. The bomb disposal squad removed the suspicious object to the nearby fields and destroyed it through a controlled explosion without causing any damage.
