Karnataka SIR starts from July 30th

The Karnataka Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise kick starts in the State from Tuesday- June 30th. The entire State Election Commission machinery is all geared up to complete this exercise in the
 most smooth manner without any confusions, said Chief Electoral Officer  Karnataka, Anbu Kumar.

As per the schedule notified by the Election Commission of India, the House-to-House Enumeration Phase of the Special Intensive Revision in Karnataka commences on 30th June 2026 and will continue up to 29th July 2026.

Schedule of SIR for the State of Karnataka:

– Preparation, Training and Printing: 20/06/2026 to 29/06/2026

– House -to – House Visits by BLOs: 30/06/2026 to 29/07/ 2026

– Rationalization of Polling Stations: By 29/07/2026

– Publication of Draft Electoral Roll: 05/08/2026

– Period for Filing Claims & Objections: 05/08/2026 to 04/09/2026

– Notice Phase and Disposal of Claims & Objections: 05/08/2026 to 03/ 10/2026

– Publication of Final Electoral Roll: 07/10/2026

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer has completed all preparatory activities for the successful conduct of the Special Intensive Revision.

A total of 59,050 Booth Level Officers have been trained and deployed across the State. Comprehensive training has also been imparted to all 31 District Election Officers, 4 Additional District Election Officers, 224 Electoral Registration Officers, 336 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and 7,556 BLO Supervisors, along with all other officials associated with the revision process.

Further, 1,15,112 Booth Level Agents have been appointed by political parties and the majority of them have been trained by the DEOs. In addition, awareness and orientation programmes have been conducted for all Recognised National and State Political Parties.

The Enumeration Forms have been printed and distributed to all District Election Officers, who have further ensured their distribution to the respective Electoral Registration Officers and Booth Level Officers for field-level implementation.

Karnataka presently has 5,54,32,314 electors (as on 16,06.2026) who will be covered under this Special Intensive Revision.

During the House-to-House Enumeration, Booth Level Officers will personally visit every household within their assigned polling area to distribute the Enumeration Forms to all electors whose name 1s present in the Electoral Roll as on 16.06.2026.

During the distribution process, two types of colour stickers will be pasted. One violet colour square shape sticker will indicate that the Enumeration Form has been distributed to the. household, while the other red colour round shape sticker will indicate that the house was found locked or closed at the time of the BLO’s visit. After the electors complete and sign the Enumeration Forms, the Booth Level Officers will collect them for further processing and digitization.

To ensure that every elector has adequate opportunity to participate in the revision process, Booth Level Officers will make at least three visits to households, wherever necessary, for the collection of the duly filled Enumeration Forms

All electors who submit the duly completed Enumeration Form within the prescribed period will be included in the Draft Electoral Roll. In cases where the Enumeration Form is not received. the elector’s name will not be included in the Draft Electoral Roll. Further no document will be collected during the Enumeration phase.

The completed Enumeration Forms will be digitized within the prescribed timeline, and all activities relating to the House-to-House Enumeration will be completed 29th July 2026, as directed by the Election Commission of India.

The Special Intensive Revision is a participative, transparent and citizen-centric exercise aimed at ensuring that every eligible elector is included in the Electoral Roll and that the Electoral Rolls remain accurate, complete and up to date.
