BJP leader Kangana Ranaut launched a sharp critique against Rahul Gandhi on Monday, as the stock market largely ignored the latest Hindenburg Report targeting the SEBI chief. The Mandi MP accused Gandhi of “endorsing” the US-based short-seller’s report and charged him with attempting to “destabilize” India’s security and economy.
Kangana did not hold back in her criticism, calling Rahul Gandhi “bitter, poisonous, and destructive,” and asserted that the nation would never accept him as its leader. She stated, “Rahul Gandhi is the most dangerous man, he is bitter, poisonous, and destructive. His agenda is that if he can’t be the Prime Minister, then he might as well destroy this nation. The Hindenburg report targeting our stock market, which Rahul Gandhi was endorsing last night, has turned out to be a damp squib,” Kangana wrote on X.
The actress-turned-politician further added, “He is trying everything to destabilize this nation’s security and economy. Mr. Gandhi, get ready to sit in the opposition all your life, and as you suffer, get ready to witness the glory, growth, and nationalism of the people of this nation. They will never make you their leader. You are a disgrace.”
Kangana is not alone in her stance. BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli also criticized Rahul Gandhi for using the Hindenburg report to attack the government. Kohli expressed concern over the timing and intent behind the report, especially given that the Supreme Court had previously dismissed similar claims. He questioned whether international forces might be targeting Indian democracy and economy and asked if Gandhi, as the Leader of the Opposition, should support such efforts.
On Sunday, Rahul Gandhi had raised concerns about SEBI’s operations following recent allegations made by Hindenburg Research against SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch. The US-based short-seller claimed that Buch and her husband had stakes in offshore funds involved in an alleged Adani money-siphoning scandal. Gandhi questioned whether the Supreme Court would take suo motu action on the matter.
In response, SEBI chief Madhabi Puri Buch and her husband Dhaval Buch issued a detailed rebuttal on Sunday, denying the allegations made by Hindenburg Research. They dismissed the claims as baseless and accused the short-seller of attempting to undermine SEBI’s credibility and engage in a character assassination of its leadership. The couple emphasized that Hindenburg had not responded to a notice issued by SEBI, despite making serious accusations.
