Seventeen individuals were injured in a head-on collision involving buses on the Akhnoor-Jourian Road in Akhnoor, Jammu. The incident resulted in four of the injured being transported to Government Medical College, Jammu for medical treatment and care.

The police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the incident, and the investigation is currently underway to gather more information and evidence.

In response to the recent bus accidents near Akhnoor, the administration has taken significant action by suspending a traffic police official due to their negligence in performing their duty. This decision underscores the seriousness with which the authorities are addressing the safety concerns on the roads in that area.

“Pending an inquiry into his conduct/dereliction of duties, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Traffic Rural Jammu, Satish Kumar has been placed under suspension. During the period of suspension, he will remain attached to police headquarters,” reads an order issued.

Previous Accidents In Akhnoor

June 2: A tragic incident occurred in the Kalith region of Akhnoor, where a minibus veered off the road, causing the deaths of two individuals and injuring sixteen others. The accident involved a minibus with license plate JK02AQ 8477, traveling from Akhnoor to Narayana at the time of the incident.

May 30: A bus carrying pilgrims from Kurukshetra, Haryana to Shivkhori, Pouni, plunged into a gorge in the Chungi Morh area of Akhnoor, Jammu. This resulted in 21 deaths and 40 injuries among the passengers.
