Is Delhi To Witness Rain Relief? Check What IMD Forecast Says

For days and even months, Delhiites have been enduring an ongoing heatwave, with the national capital consistently experiencing scorching temperatures ranging from 40 to 47 degrees Celsius. This persistent heat, coupled with high humidity, has caused significant discomfort for residents.

So much so, that city’s power demand has now set a new record, which now stands at 8000 MW.

As a result, people of national capital, are now eagerly looking forward to southwest monsoon.

But the good news, the relief from heat might arrive earlier, as IMD (India Meteorological Department) has recently revealed, the monsoon had already arrived over Bay of Bengal, three days early, on May 19.

According to IMD, rainfall this season (June-September) will be above normal, which will be 106 percent of the long period average.

Which will likely occur due to the presence of La Nina and positive Indian Ocean Dipole conditions.

While overall, there may be more rainfall, but according to some sources, the rain might arrive in intense bursts with drier periods filled in between.

Will Monsoon Arrive In Delhi?

According to experts, Delhi is expected to witness relief probably on June 27. But so far, the monsoon still isn’t under the radar.

As IMD, has recently issues red alert, predicting that severe heatwave is going to unleashed on several parts of Delhi over the coming two days. Which means, that the temperature will continue to rise further.

Coming to India’s other parts, the monsoon might arrive earlier, as states like Karnataka and Maharashtra might witness rain the first week of June.
