An IndiGo flight bound for Bengaluru was forced to return to Delhi airport after suffering a tailstrike during takeoff. The incident occurred on September 9, and while no passengers were injured, the aircraft sustained noticeable damage to its tail section.

What Is a Tailstrike
A tailstrike occurs when the tail of an aircraft makes contact with the runway during takeoff or landing. This can lead to significant damage, especially to the rear pressure bulkhead, a critical part of the aircraft’s structure.

Emergency Landing and Safe Return
After the tailstrike, the pilot immediately informed air traffic control (ATC), who cleared the aircraft to return for an emergency landing. The flight, numbered 6E 6054, landed safely without any injuries to passengers or crew.

Investigation Underway
Following the incident, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Delhi airport authorities launched an investigation to determine the cause of the tailstrike. The crew has been removed from duty pending further investigation, and alternative arrangements were made for the passengers.

IndiGo’s Response
As of now, IndiGo has not released an official statement on the matter. Further updates from the airline and regulatory authorities are expected as the investigation progresses.

Passengers can rest assured that safety measures were swiftly implemented to avoid any casualties.
