Amit Shah assumed office as India’s Home Minister for the second consecutive term in the Modi 3.0 Cabinet last week. He has held this position since 2019. In the 2024 Lok Sabha Election, Shah secured a significant victory in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar constituency with a margin of 7,44,716 votes, garnering 10,10,972 votes against Congress’ Sonal Patel’s 2,66,256 votes. Previously, Shah won the seat in 2019 with a margin of 5,57,014 votes, succeeding BJP stalwarts LK Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Gambhir’s name has been associated with the Indian men’s team head coach position. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is evaluating the next coach as Rahul Dravid’s tenure concludes after the T20 World Cup 2024 in June. Gambhir expressed his interest in coaching the Indian team, stating, “I would love to coach the Indian team. There is no bigger honour than coaching your national team. You are representing 140 crore Indians and those across the globe as well.”
India advanced to the Super 8 stage by defeating the USA in their third match. Their upcoming match is against Afghanistan in Barbados on Thursday.
