Thousands of devotees flocked to Ayodhya’s Hanuman Garhi Temple to celebrate Hanuman Jayanti, offering prayers on Tuesday. Devotees patiently waited in queues for their turn to pay homage. Similar scenes were witnessed at the Hanuman Temple in Delhi’s Connaught Place, where people sought blessings from Lord Hanuman, revered for his devotion, courage, and strength.

Hanuman Jayanti marks the birth of Lord Hanuman, a devoted follower of Lord Ram, and falls on the full moon day (Purnima) of the Hindu lunar month of Chaitra, typically in March or April. The day is celebrated with vibrant processions, cultural performances, and the distribution of prasad.

To manage the increased traffic due to the festivities, the Delhi Traffic Police issued a traffic advisory. In a post on social media, they announced, “In view of Sunderkand Paath on the occasion of Hanuman Janmotsav by Marghat Wale Baba Hanuman Mandir Samiti on 23.04.2024, traffic restrictions and diversions will be effective.”

The advisory provided alternate routes for commuters to ensure a smooth journey. For those heading towards Chatta Rail and Old Delhi Railway Station, the police suggested using the Hanuman Setu Flyover to Kela Ghat to Chatta Rail to reach the station. Commuters coming from ISBT Kashmere Gate and heading towards Old Delhi Railway Station were advised to take a right turn from Salimgarh Fort to Y-Point to Hanuman Setu Flyover to reach their destination.

General instructions were also issued, encouraging people to use public transport, park vehicles only in designated areas, and avoid roadside parking to ease traffic congestion.
