Delhi Madrasa: 5-Year-Old Beaten To Death For ‘Holiday’

A devastating incident occurred in Delhi’s Dayalpur area on Saturday, where a five-year-old boy was tragically beaten to death. The boy, who was an inmate at a madrasa in Brijpuri, was found with multiple injuries, including blisters on his neck, abdomen, and groin area.

The Delhi Police reported that the child’s mother was informed of his illness around 6:30 PM on Friday. She rushed him to a private hospital where he was declared dead upon arrival, as he was beaten badly. The police were notified about the death at 9:52 PM the same day. An autopsy revealed severe injuries, including internal lacerations, bleeding in the abdomen and right lung, and a ruptured liver.

Initial investigations led to the arrest of three minors, aged between 9 and 11, who allegedly beat the boy to death. The suspects, who were fellow madrasa students, reportedly attacked the victim either due to an altercation or as a misguided attempt to force a holiday from school.

Conflicting accounts emerged during the investigation. One of the accused claimed the victim had verbally abused them, which led to the confrontation. Another suspect admitted to the assault, hoping it would result in a holiday from the madrasa. CCTV footage has corroborated these findings, and the police are continuing to investigate the involvement of other individuals.

The deceased had been attending the madrasa for five months. His mother, a domestic worker from Punjabi Bagh, Delhi, is now left to care for his two siblings, a 10-year-old brother and an 8-year-old sister. The boy’s father, who resides in Uttar Pradesh, visits Delhi monthly.

Haji Din Mohammad, the madrasa principal, oversees an institution with around 250 students, including 150 from outside Delhi. The police are thoroughly investigating the case and reviewing CCTV footage to determine the full extent of the incident.
