Congress candidate Vinesh Phogat expressed strong confidence in receiving support from the people of Julana for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. Phogat, who is also a celebrated wrestler, believes that with the blessings of her supporters, she will achieve victory.

“These people have supported us in wrestling, and I am confident they will support me in these elections as well. I owe everything to God and my elders. Their blessings are crucial for my success,” Phogat said.

Earlier today, Dronacharya awardee and wrestling coach Mahavir Singh Phogat expressed disappointment over Vinesh Phogat’s decision to enter politics. He suggested that she could have made this move after the 2028 Olympics, noting that her recent performance at the Paris Olympics, where she was disqualified from the final, could have been followed by a continued focus on wrestling.

“I am saddened by her decision to join politics now. She performed well in Paris but did not win a gold. The people of India had high hopes for her. I believe she should have focused on the 2028 Olympics before transitioning into politics,” Mahavir Singh Phogat told ANI.

He added that Vinesh Phogat had no previous intentions of entering politics, which came as a surprise. “Neither Vinesh nor Bajrang had plans to join politics. It seems surprising how Congress managed to get her involved in elections,” he remarked.

Vinesh Phogat recently inaugurated her party’s election office in Julana and performed a traditional havan. After her disqualification from the Paris Olympics due to a slight weight issue, Phogat announced her retirement from wrestling and joined the Congress party.

The Haryana Assembly elections will take place on October 5, with the last date for filing nominations being September 12. Vote counting is scheduled for October 8. In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP emerged as the single largest party with 40 seats, while the Congress won 30 seats.
