Chirag Paswan Inherits Father’s Role, Outlines His Ministry Vision

Chirag Paswan, the leader of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), one of the youngest members in the recent Modi cabinet or Modi 3.0, has outlined his plans for the food processing ministry, which he has been tasked with.

The 41-year-old cabinet minister affirmed his dedication to the new position he has been given, emphasizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to elevate the department to greater levels. He highlighted the potential of the food processing sector.

Mr. Paswan said, “If you see the involvement of food processing globally, India’s involvement is comparatively very less than global involvement in the food processing industry. In the coming times, there is unlimited scope in this field.”

He added, “My vision is focused on establishing more processing units so that farmers can get an appropriate amount for their produce and their income increases.”

The newly appointed minister remarked that the food processing sector in foreign countries is significantly more advanced than in India. He expressed optimism and hope that India can achieve similar progress in this crucial industry.

He went on to inform that, “In foreign countries, several works are done through processing units only, whereas we have not been able to achieve it yet. So, I hope, just like my father, the late Ram Vilas Paswan, I will contribute 100 percent to it.”

He also elaborated on his vision for the department, which was previously led by his father, Ram Vilas Paswan, until his passing in 2020. Following this, his uncle, Pashupati Paras, took charge for the remainder of the Lok Sabha term.

Chirag Paswan achieved an impressive win in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by securing all five seats allotted to his party in Bihar under the NDA’s seat-sharing agreement. His path from a short stint as a Bollywood actor to an experienced politician has been notable, marked by significant personal and political achievements along the way.
