BSF spots drones in Gurdaspur; search operation launched

A search operation was launched by the officials of the Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday after drones were spotted in Gurdaspur.

Meanwhile, at two BSF posts of the Border Security Force (BSF) under Dera Baba Nanak, Gurdaspur district of Punjab.

It is believed that the drones entered India in Punjab’s Gurdaspur sector from the Pakistan side along the International Border.

According to the BSF’s Gurdaspur DIG Prabhakar Joshi at around 10.30 pm Sunday drones were spotted at Chandu Wadala Post and Kassowal Post.

Talking about the action DIG said drones were immediately fired. “Another drone was spotted near the Chandu Wadala post at around midnight (Monday),” Joshi said.

However, the search operation is underway and further details are awaited.

Earlier on 14 October, a Pakistani drone was shot down by BSF jawans at the Shahpur border outpost of Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur. After sighting the drone, about 17 rounds of fire were done on the drone by the jawans.

Furthermore, BSF jawans found a packet of heroin near Barike village during a search operation in Fazilka, Punjab on the night of 14-15 December. The packet contained about 2.650 kg of heroin. That heroin was also dropped from the Pakistani side through drones. The police had arrested a person in the case.
