BJP poll panel to meet again to decide on Lok Sabha election candidates

The Central Election Committee Meeting (CEC) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will take place on March 5, 6, and 7 in order to finalize the names of candidates for the remaining Lok Sabha seats. The Central Election Committee meeting will take place in Delhi.

“There will be another rounds of CEC on March 5,6 and 7 to discuss and decide the names of the candidates on rest of the seats for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” a senior party official said on Saturday.

The leader went on to say that the party will discuss the list of candidates decided upon at the previous meeting.

“There will be three more CEC rounds to talk about the remaining seats. During these rounds, a few names that were addressed during the previous meeting will be brought up again. Deep discussion is necessary because the BJP is a committed party and believes that every seat matters, according to the source.

BJP headquarters on Thursday witnessed the first round of the CEC meeting which was attended by Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, party chief JP Nadda and a host of other senior leaders. The meeting was about Lok Sabha election and seats along with potential candidates in about 17 states were discussed. Decisions for more than 155 seats were made during the meeting. The BJP’s first list of candidates is anticipated to be released soon.

Sources indicated that the announcement of the names of 4-5 candidates from Telangana could be made soon. Discussions were held with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath regarding the names of candidates in the meeting. Discussions were also held on the names of candidates with BJP leaders from Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Kerala, Gujarat, Jharkhand, and Uttarakhand.
