‘Big proud moment for us as a nation’, PM Modi says over India’s G20 presidency

‘Big proud moment for us as a nation’, PM Modi says over India’s G20 presidency

India’s G20 Presidency is an honor for every Indian and on Monday Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought cooperation from political parties.

Earlier on Monday PM Modi told political parties that, India’s G20 presidency is an honor for the country.

Meanwhile, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, an all-party meeting was held by PM Modi who said for the entire nation India’s G20 presidency is an honor.

“It is a big proud moment for us as a nation and all of us are stakeholders and therefore we all need to cooperate and make this a huge success,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi further said, “There was a point when everybody would consider India only up to Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru but now we will be able to show the world the unseen India which is beautiful and dynamic yet united.”

According to the sources PM Modi requested all political parties to participate and encourage public partnership.

However, an all-party meeting chaired by PM Modi briefed the leaders about the government’s approach.

In the meeting Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik were present.

However, the leaders who spoke in the meeting were Former Prime Minister HD Devegowda, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, MK Stalin, Mamata Banerjee, JP Nadda, and N Chandrababu Naidu among others.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah presided over the meeting on behalf of the government and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made the opening remarks.

In the meeting, many senior ministers were present including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

Earlier on 1 December India formally assumed the G20 Presidency. In the presence of PM Modi at the Bali summit Indonesia handed over the G20 presidency to India.
