Ayodhya Ram Temple to Avoid Chinese Decor During Diwali Celebrations

The Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirath Kshetra Trust, which oversees the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, has announced that no Chinese decorative items will be used for Diwali celebrations this year. This decision is part of an initiative to promote local craftsmanship and align with the “Vocal for Local” movement aimed at self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat).

Grand Deepotsav Preparations

Ayodhya is gearing up for its eighth edition of Deepotsav, which will be the first since the consecration ceremony at the Ram Temple in January. The temple premises will be adorned with traditional diyas and other locally sourced decorative items. Ayodhya Commissioner Gaurav Dayal emphasized that the goal is to utilize indigenous materials and promote local artisans, stating, “We want to just use items that are indigenous and local. They are saying they will not use Chinese items, but the whole idea is to promote local artists and materials, which are more eco-friendly.”

Security Measures and Special Events

In terms of security, approximately 10,000 personnel will be deployed during the Deepotsav event, with nearly half in plainclothes to ensure safety. While there are no official directives urging residents to avoid Chinese products, Dayal noted that the decision ultimately rests with individuals.

The Deepotsav is scheduled for Wednesday, a day before Diwali, with the government aiming to set a Guinness World Record for the most diyas lit simultaneously. Additionally, renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra has been commissioned to design special outfits for Ram Lalla and his brothers, blending high fashion with spirituality for the festive occasion.
