Amit Shah Charts Path For ‘Vibrant Villages’: Focus On Local Jobs And Connectivity

Union Home Minister Amit Shah conducted a comprehensive review of the ‘Vibrant Villages Programme’ during a high-level meeting in New Delhi. He emphasized the importance of enhancing local employment opportunities and connectivity to prevent migration from border villages.

The Ministry of Home Affairs highlighted Shah’s directives for Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Army units in border areas to support local economies by promoting purchases from cooperatives.

Shah also underscored the accessibility of healthcare services for nearby villages, leveraging renewable energy sources like solar and wind power, and affirmed the government’s commitment to holistic development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. The meeting focused on ongoing initiatives, including over 6,000 events and 600 projects aimed at fostering employment and infrastructure development.

Additionally, efforts are underway to ensure 4G connectivity across all villages under the programme by December 2024, alongside financial inclusion measures through India Post-Payment Banks. Tourism development and cultural heritage promotion are also priorities, with plans to enhance infrastructure and capacity building in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism.

Launched in February 2023 with an initial allocation of Rs 4,800 crore, the ‘Vibrant Villages Programme’ targets villages in border districts across several northern states and union territories, aiming to create sustainable livelihoods and improve overall living conditions.
