Thereafter he collapsed. He was a staunch Congressman and used to take on the RSS in Nagpur. It is a most humbling moment for all the Yatris,” Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said.

Former Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi also expressed his grief over Pandey’s demise. “Congress Seva Dal General Secretary, Krishnakant Pandey ji’s demise is very sad for the entire Congress family. I express my deepest condolences to his loved ones,” he said in a tweet.

As told by the workers, a mark the other half of the yatra will move silently without any music as a mark of respect. Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ashok Chavan said that a medical check up will be set up for senior citizens as many yatris are unable to match Rahul Gandhi’s pace. “We have a full-fledged medical team with 25 doctors and they will conduct medical check-ups to senior citizens and people with co morbidities,” he said.
