5 Dead, 35 Injured as Chemical-Laden Truck Catches Fire Near Petrol Pump in Jaipur

A devastating accident occurred on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway early Friday morning claimed five lives and left over 35 injured. A chemical-laden truck collided with multiple trucks in front of a petrol pump and caught fire, according to police reports.

Fire Engulfs Several Trucks

The truck involved in the collision was carrying chemicals, which worsened the situation. Some victims suffered severe burn injuries. Police confirmed the accident and stated that the fire spread to several trucks. “The fire has engulfed several trucks. The exact number is unclear. Burn victims were rushed to hospitals in ambulances,” said Bhankrota SHO Manish Gupta.

Traffic Stopped on the Highway

The blaze caused a massive disruption. Authorities halted traffic on the highway to manage the situation. Jaipur District Magistrate Jitendra Soni reported that nearly 40 vehicles caught fire. He added, “The fire is mostly under control, and fire brigades are working to douse the remaining flames.”

Injured Admitted to ICU

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma visited the injured at the hospital. Dr. Deepak Maheshwari, Principal of SMS Medical College, provided updates. “Four people have died. Around 24-25 are in the ICU. More injured are still arriving. This is a serious accident,” he said.

Separate Fire Incident in Jaipur Market

On Wednesday evening, another fire broke out in a market on MI Road in Jaipur. It destroyed three shops but caused no injuries. Jalupura Police Station SHO Hawa Singh said locals alerted the police. “At around 8:15 pm, I was patrolling when I got the report. The fire brigade arrived quickly and controlled the blaze within an hour. No injuries occurred, but three shops were damaged,” he stated.

Safety Concerns Raised

These incidents have highlighted the need for stricter safety measures on highways and in markets. Authorities are investigating both cases to identify causes and prevent similar tragedies.
