National Deworming Day was celebrated at Civil Hospital, Sector-6, which was inaugurated by Civil Surgeon Dr. Mukta Kumar and Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Shivani.
Under the program, children aged 1 to 19 years in government, private schools, Anganwadi centers and urban primary health centers were given medicines to kill stomach worms as per their age. This medicine was administered to all registered, unregistered and out-of-school children in Anganwadi centres.

Dr. Mukta Kumar told the children that worm infection causes malnutrition and anemia in children, due to which they always remain tired and physical and mental development also does not occur properly.

Dr. Shivani told that to prevent worm infection, keep the surroundings clean, do not defecate in the open, do not walk barefoot, wash hands thoroughly with soap after defecation or before eating food, wash fruits/vegetables in clean water. Keep nails clean and short, wear shoes and slippers. On this occasion, about one lakh 35 thousand children were given deworming medicine in all government, private schools and Anganwadi centers and urban primary health centers in rural and urban areas of the district. During this period, the children who missed taking medicines will be given deworming medicines in the mop up round on 20th February.
