As the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha election in 2024 is ongoing, an independent candidate of Nashik, Shantigiri Maharaj garlanded a voting machine at a polling booth in his constituency on Monday.

Subsequently, an FIR was registered against him at Trimbakeshwar Police Station.

Meanwhile, Nashik is witnessing stiff competition between Godse Hemant Tukaram from Shiv Sena and Rajabhau (Parag) Prakash Vaje from Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray).

Interestingly, both Godse and Waje belong to the politically influential Maratha Community

However, the mahayuti, which comprises of BJP, the Shiv Sena and the NCP, have finally settled their differences in Maharashtra.

Overall, the fifth phase of election is witnessing key contests in various constituencies.

Where leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Piyush Goyal, Ujjwal Nikam, Karan Bhushan Singh, LJP (Ramvilas) chief Chirag Paswan, JKNC chief Omar Abdullah are looking to secure their win from their constituency.

In the 5th phase of the election, around 8 states are going on polls: – Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
