It was on Monday evening, when an unclothed male entered the ladies’ cabin of Mumbai local, thereby creating quite a furore within the crowd traveling on it. At around 4:11 pm, an AC train from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Kalyan faced this horrific event.

Railway authorities claimed after the situation that he belonged to those who had got off at Wadala in another train which was carrying mental patients mistakenly boarded in his outfit.

According to the Times of India, the man entered the train at Ghatkopar station. His presence immediately infuriated and distressed the women passengers, who demanded that he leave. Despite their protests, the man refused to deboard, prompting the motorman to halt the train after hearing the commotion.

A TC in the adjacent bogie intervened after being alerted by the women. At the next station, the TC managed to get the man to leave the train.

Viral Video Sparks Debate

A video of the incident has gone viral. The video shows women shouting at the man, demanding, “Neeche utro (get down),” as he stands near the doorway. The video also captures a railway staff member pushing the man out of the train.

While most people on social media condemned the way the situation was handled, others pointed out that the man probably suffered from mental health issues and needed proper help.

Lata Argade, railway activist, who got the video from a passenger, says she was worried about the lack of security. She questions how he could board the train without being noticed at such a busy station as Ghatkopar.

Railway officials said that he was mentally unstable. GRP arrested him immediately, gave him some clothes, and took him out of the station. The incident has sparked a renewed debate on passenger safety and awareness about mental health on public transport.
