Pavani Nagpal, an artist whose masterpieces draw attention towards the feminist approach of the world made her debut with her collection. The debut collection titled- ‘My journey’ showcases the stark realities of the urban, modern society that no one talks about.
“My art is very close to my emotions, my personal journey of being raised by strong, loving parents while seeing a dark world after I got married, any woman can relate to it because it is all authentic. Women experience thousands of emotions throughout their life, I have portrayed the ones I have experienced so far. I have nothing to hide,” said the artist.
Pavani’s love for vibrant colors denotes the deep understanding of the world she has and her optimism for it. You can witness an element of grace and fashion mixed with fun in her art work.
She as an artist loves to experiment with charcoal, ink, acrylic and dabbles in fluid art.
Her art is a real time example that everyone has got talent. What’s rare is the courage to follow it to the dark places where it leads.
When asked why she picked this specific topic for her debut collection, she explained, “The world of social media and fashion influences a young girl’s life a lot. I too got distracted with such patterns in my life and now that I am aware of the real world lies, I want to educate and empower other women. The society which I come from is expected to have only “the good life”, people forget we are human beings too. I was studded with all the expensive jewels one can dream of on my wedding day, still my identity became as patchy as Van Gogh’s paintings. You will see that when you look at my art. I have put every little emotion that I carry within me on my paintings.” Her collection was viewed at the India Art Festival, 13th to 16th October at Constitution Club of India, New Delhi.
