Elon Musk has publicly voiced his support for Donald Trump in the aftermath of a shooting incident at a Trump rally. The tech mogul’s endorsement came just moments after news of the gunfire broke, rattling attendees and the nation alike.
On Saturday, following the shooting at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania, Elon Musk took to social media to endorse the former president in the upcoming elections. Musk, who has reportedly made a substantial donation to a pro-Trump super PAC, praised Trump in a statement saying, “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.” He drew a historical parallel, likening Trump to Theodore Roosevelt, who survived an assassination attempt during his 1912 presidential campaign. Musk added, “The last time America had a candidate this tough was Theodore Roosevelt.”
The incident took place during a Trump speech in Pennsylvania, where nine shots were fired, leading Trump to take cover. The Republican leader was seen with blood on the side of his face, gripping his bleeding ear while defiantly raising a fist with the other hand. The Secret Service has since confirmed that Trump is safe.
After receiving medical treatment, Donald Trump made his first public statement on his social media platform, Truth Social. He expressed gratitude towards the United States Secret Service and law enforcement for their quick response. “I would want to express my gratitude to the US Secret Service and the whole law enforcement community for their prompt action in responding to the recent shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania. Above all, I would like to offer my condolences to the family of the rally victim who passed away and to the family of another individual who was seriously hurt,” Trump said.
He detailed his experience, describing how he was shot in the upper part of his right ear, and the immediate realization of the situation as he felt the bullet pierce his skin and cause significant bleeding. The fact that such an act can occur in our nation is astounding. Regarding the gunman, who is now deceased, nothing is known at this moment. Trump said, “I was shot, and a bullet went through the top portion of my right ear.”
Concluding his message with a patriotic note, Trump wrote, “GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
Elon Musk’s endorsement of Trump, coming so soon after the incident, underscores his support for the former president. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO’s backing is expected to significantly influence the political landscape as the nation approaches the upcoming elections.
