In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old delivery boy was allegedly murdered while attempting to deliver an iPhone worth ₹1.5 lakh to a customer. The tragic event took place in the city, where the police have launched an investigation into the case.
According to authorities, the victim, Bharat Sahu, was a delivery boy from Nishatganj who was dispatched to deliver the smartphone on September 23. The customer, identified as Gajanan from Chinhat, had chosen the Cash on Delivery (COD) payment option for the purchase made through Flipkart.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shashank Singh stated that during the delivery, Gajanan and an accomplice allegedly strangled Sahu, placed his body in a sack, and subsequently disposed of it in the Indira Canal. Following Sahu’s absence for two days, his family filed a missing person’s report at the Chinhat police station on September 25.
As the investigation progressed, police reviewed Sahu’s call logs and managed to trace Gajanan’s number. This led them to a friend of Gajanan named Akash, who, upon interrogation, confessed to the crime.
The police are yet to recover Sahu’s body. A team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been deployed to search the canal for any signs of the victim. Authorities are committed to uncovering the full details of this tragic case as they continue their investigation.
As this story develops, the police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing justice to the victim’s family.
