Civic authorities in Mumbai have advised residents to use water sparingly as two wards, M/East and M/West in the eastern suburbs, are set to experience a 12-hour water cut on June 13. This interruption is due to the installation of a 750 mm diameter culvert pipe, which will improve the water supply force in these areas.
An official from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated, “The installation of the new pipeline will result in improved force of water supply in the areas that fall under these wards. The water supply will be shut down to prevent any spillage or leakage of water during the pipe installation process.”
Residents in the affected areas are urged to use water cautiously during this period of disruption. The areas to be affected by the water cut include:
1) M East Division– Lakshmi Vasahat, Rane Chal, Nityanand Bagh, Tolaram Vasahat, Sriram Nagar, J. J. Wadi, Sheth Heights, Dongre Park, Tata Colony, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) Colony, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) Vasahat, Gawanpada, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) Refinery, Indian Oil Corporation, Tata Power Thermal Plant, Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), and Varun Beverages.
2) M West Division– Mahulgaon, Ambapada, Jijamata Nagar, Vashi Naka, Mysore Colony, Khadi Machine, Ramakrishna Chemburkar (RC) Marg, Shahaji Nagar, Collector Colony, Sindhi Colony, Laldongar, Subhashchandra Bose Nagar, Navjeevan Society, Old Barrack, and Chembur Cantonment.
