As part of the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan, around 500 cadets of NCC Maharashtra Directorate undertook a mega beach cleaning programme today morning after Ganpati Visarjan at Girgaon Chowpatty, Mumbai. The public beach is very popular amongst the locals as well as the tourists and is noted for its Ganesh Visarjan celebrations when thousands of people from all over Mumbai come to immerse the idols of Lord Ganesh in the Sea. The endeavour by the NCC cadets alongwith other civic officials and local citizens was to clean-up the beach quickly and restore it back to its original state. Every year NCC Cadets of Maharashtra Directorate contribute in cleaning the Girgaon Chowpatty beach as well as the Juhu beach on the next morning of Ganesh Visarjan. As part of Puneet Sagar Abhiyaan initiative with the mantra ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’, the NCC Cadets and staff highlight the noble cause of caring for our environment and keeping it clean and spread awareness about it to the citizens.
