Murder convict nabbed from Telangana 12 years after jumping parole

A 39-year-old murder convict, who had managed to evade capture for over a decade after jumping parole, was apprehended by the Mumbai police’s crime branch in Telangana. The individual, known as Ashok Hanumanta Kajeri, had adopted the alias V Shiva Narsimullu and had been residing in Mahabubnagar town in Telangana under this assumed identity.
Kajeri’s criminal history dates back to 2007 when he was arrested by the Mumbai police in connection with a murder case. Following his conviction, he was sentenced to life imprisonment by a sessions court in 2008 and was subsequently incarcerated in Nashik Central Prison in Maharashtra.
In 2011, Kajeri was granted a 30-day parole for a brief respite from his prison term. However, he failed to return to the correctional facility as required and had been on the run ever since. Law enforcement authorities in Mumbai made extensive efforts to track down Kajeri, conducting searches in Nashik, Jalna, Hingoli, Parbhani in Maharashtra, and even in Kerala, but their attempts proved fruitless.
Several years later, the crime branch received specific intelligence indicating Kajeri’s presence in Telangana.
Following this lead, they successfully apprehended him and brought him back to Mumbai, where he was taken into custody.
