Former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, along with his son Aaditya Thackeray and wife Rashmi Thackeray, cast their votes at a polling booth in Mumbai.

After voting, Rashmi Thackeray flashed her inked finger.

In the meantime, Aaditya Thackeray posted on the social media site X, encouraging people to vote. Cast your ballot for India. Whether we all continue to live as subjects or citizens after this election depends on your vote. You make the difference in whether democracy is maintained or not. Whether or not the Constitution is upheld depends on your vote. Voting matters. Voting is a duty and a right, so exercise it.

Earlier in the day, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde cast his vote at a polling booth in Thane.

After casting his vote, Chief Minister Shinde lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking crucial decisions during his ten-year tenure and said, “All the important decisions have been taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last 10 years. So I am confident that the people of Maharashtra are going to vote for Mahayuti.”

“I have seen satisfaction amongst the people wherever I have gone in the state regarding the development… The work done by the state government in two years and by the central government in the last 10 years will be reflected in the elections. We are contesting the election in Maharashtra on the issue of development,” the Maharashtra CM added.

Notably, Phase 5 elections for Mumbai’s six Lok Sabha constituencies are currently under progress. Mumbai North, Mumbai North Central, Mumbai North West, Mumbai North East, Mumbai South, and Mumbai South Central are the seats in question.
The following Maharashtra constituencies are taking part in the ongoing fifth phase of the election: Dhule, Dindori, Nashik, Kalyan, Palghar, Bhiwandi, and Thane.
With 48 Lok Sabha seats, Maharashtra is the state with the second-most after Uttar Pradesh. The seven stages of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to take place between April 19 and June 1. On June 4, the results and counting will be announced.

Fourteen of the forty-nine Lok Sabha seats are located in Uttar Pradesh, thirteen in Maharashtra, seven in West Bengal, five in Bihar, three in Jharkhand, five in Odisha, and one in each of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Over 2,000 flying squads, 2105 static surveillance teams, 881 video surveillance teams, and 502 video viewing teams are monitoring the 94,732 polling places around-the-clock in an effort to foster a calm environment for voters.
