In the wake of New Year celebrations, Mumbai Police took action against 283 individuals for operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol, as reported on Monday.
The police’s traffic branch orchestrated a 12-hour campaign against drunk driving, concluding at 8 am on Monday, with security personnel stationed at key locations throughout the city.
During this initiative, law enforcement apprehended 283 individuals for drunk driving, resulting in the registration of cases for traffic-related violations. Subsequently, fines were imposed on the offenders. Amidst tight security measures, thousands of Mumbaikars gathered at iconic locations such as the Gateway of India, Marine Drive, Girgaum Chowpatty, and others to welcome the New Year. Additionally, many opted to visit religious sites, including the renowned Siddhivinayak and Mumbadevi temples, as well as churches. Various housing societies and building terraces also hosted get-togethers to mark the occasion.
