The Mumbai Police Crime Branch apprehended an individual from Vadodara, Gujarat, for sending a threatening email to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), HDFC Bank, and other private lenders.

The email, received by the RBI and various private banks on Tuesday, contained bomb threats targeting 11 office locations across Mumbai. The sender demanded the resignation of RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, accusing them of orchestrating the “biggest scam in the history of India,” as reported by ABP news.

In the email, the sender threatened to plant bombs at specific locations, including the RBI office and premises of HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank. The Mumbai Police Crime Branch is currently interrogating the arrested individual to ascertain the motive behind the threatening email.

The sender’s demand for the immediate resignation of top officials and a press statement disclosing the alleged scam added urgency to the situation. However, thorough investigations at the specified locations revealed no actual threat, prompting the police to register a case against the individual responsible for the email.

A total of 11 bomb threats were mentioned in the email, targeting prominent locations in Mumbai. Despite the lack of evidence supporting the threats, the police continue their efforts to uncover the sender’s motives and ensure the safety of the mentioned locations. The alarming nature of the bomb threat prompted a swift and comprehensive investigation by security officials, although no explosives were found. The police remain vigilant and committed to pursuing the case against the individual responsible for the threatening email.
