In a remarkable feat spanning 12 days and covering 1200 km across multiple states, the Mumbai Police successfully apprehended Drayson M. D’Sa, a fugitive accused of murdering his wife and brother. The 40-year-old suspect allegedly bludgeoned Chitra, 35, and his older brother Damian M. D’Sa to death at their residence in Malad West on December 29 following a heated domestic dispute.

According to the complaint filed by Bindu Damian D’Sa, Drayson used a china clay flower pot and sharp objects to attack his wife and brother, leading to Chitra’s immediate death and Damian falling into a coma. Damian succumbed to his injuries on January 2 at a private hospital. The motive behind the gruesome act is believed to be an ongoing property dispute between the two brothers and their wives.

The Bangur Nagar Link Road Police Station initiated an FIR for double murder based on Bindu’s complaint, launching an intensive investigation to trace the fugitive. Drayson, in an attempt to evade authorities, refrained from using electronic devices, mobile phones, or bank cards, making tracking efforts challenging for the police.

Undeterred, the police meticulously analyzed potential modes of travel and combed through CCTV footage along Drayson’s presumed escape route. Leveraging a single CCTV grab, the police initiated an extensive manhunt, scrutinizing footage across Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, and ultimately locating him in Kolkata, West Bengal.

On January 10, with assistance from the Kolkata Police’s Special Task Force, Drayson was apprehended from a hotel room and subsequently arrested. He is set to be brought back to Mumbai to face legal proceedings. The successful operation was executed by top police officials, including Rajeev Jain, Ajaykumar Bansal, Renuka Bagde, Pramod Tawade, Bhaskar Kadam, and their dedicated teams, demonstrating the effectiveness of their coordinated efforts in tracking the fugitive across multiple states.
