The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has executed search operations at 12 locations, spanning Surat, Amreli, Navsari, Mumbai, and Buxar, as part of a probe into the leakage of question-and-answer papers for the General Departmental Competitive Examination (GDCE) conducted by Western Railway’s Railway Recruitment Centre.

During the searches, digital evidence and incriminating documents were reportedly seized by the CBI. The investigation stems from a complaint filed by Western Railway against certain railway officials and unidentified individuals associated with a Mumbai-based private company.

The complaint alleged the leakage of GDCE question-and-answer papers. The computer-based test for the post of Non-Technical Popular Categories (Non-Graduate) Jr. Clerk-Cum-Typist and Trains Clerk against the GDCE Quota took place on January 3, 2021, with 8,603 candidates appearing in 28 examination centers across cities such as Ahmedabad, Indore, Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara, and Mumbai.

According to CBI’s statement, some candidates allegedly received the papers via WhatsApp messages, while others were shown the question papers physically in mass gatherings. The investigation revealed that a Mumbai-based private company was appointed as the Examination Conducting Agency, and candidates appearing in the GDCE Examination were allegedly supplied question papers and answers before the commencement of the test upon payment.

Moreover, it was alleged that, post-examination, candidates were provided results through an unverified WhatsApp link. The CBI is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter, and additional details may be disclosed in the future.
