Dehradun’s Jolly Grant airport witnessed a tumultuous incident as a 32-year-old Mumbai-based model, Megha Sharma, was arrested for alleged misbehavior with security officers and making threats to “blow up the building” on Friday evening. The arrest followed an altercation during routine security checks at the airport.
The trouble began when the scanning system had difficulty imaging Megha’s handbag, prompting CISF sub-inspector Sunita Devi to request manual frisking. In response, Megha reportedly used expletives, causing a disturbance. As the situation escalated, she not only refused to cooperate but also issued a bomb threat against the airport.
Megha, who was returning to Mumbai after a visit to Mussoorie with a friend, was involved in a clash with a female CISF officer during a routine baggage scan for her 3:10 pm departure flight. Failing to comply with security protocols, Megha’s actions led to her immediate apprehension by CISF officers, who subsequently handed her over to the local police.
The charges against Megha included obstructing a public servant (the CISF officer) and intentional insults, as per IPC sections 353 and 504. Despite the seriousness of the charges, they were deemed bailable, resulting in Megha’s release from the police station shortly after her arrest.
The incident underscores the importance of adhering to security procedures at airports and the potential legal consequences for non-compliance.
