The inaugural edition of the Mumbai Festival, scheduled from January 20 to 28, 2024, aims to illuminate the cultural richness of the city under the theme “Everyone’s United.” Embracing Mumbai’s inclusivity as the Gateway to Dreams, the festival, announced by Girish Mahajan, Minister of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, and Anand Mahindra, Chairperson of the Mumbai Festival Advisory Committee, promises a vibrant showcase of cultural and musical events, food festivals, and more.
Unveiling the festival logo and the theme “Sapno ka Gateway,” accompanied by a theme song composed by Shamir Tandon, the launch featured a performance by choreographer and filmmaker Remo D’Souza and a group of dancers.
Minister Girish Mahajan expressed, “Mumbai Festival 2024 celebrates different facets of Mumbai, highlighting the spirit of Mumbaikars and the city’s rich historical and cultural heritage. The festival aims to boost tourism, development, inclusiveness, and discover new opportunities in the industry.”
Anand Mahindra described Mumbai Festival 2024 as not just an event but one of India’s most significant annual festivals, emphasizing immersive experiences that showcase the essence of Mumbai and foster unity with the theme “Everyone’s Invited.” The festival will offer a diverse range of events, including cultural performances, the Maha Mumbai Expo, cinema and beach festivals, a filmmaking competition, and a startup fest. Mumbai Walks will pay tribute to city icons, such as dabbawallahs, police, bus drivers, and cleaning staff.
Additional events include the Shop and Win festival, Mumbai Marathon, Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, Happy Streets, Yoga By The Bay, and Aarogyam Kidzathon. An exhibition featuring photographs depicting Mumbai’s evolution over the years will also be part of the festivities.
