A landslide in Mulund disrupted the piped gas supply to several areas in Mulund and Thane, causing inconvenience to residents who were notified that service would be restored by 4 pm. Fortunately, restoration efforts began at 11 am, and the problem was resolved by
2 pm.
A local resident remarked on the situation, saying, “The interruption led to crowds gathering at shops to purchase small gas cylinders. Restaurants, which witnessed an unexpected surge in breakfast customers, had to temporarily close due to the gas supply issue.” The incident even disrupted Janmashtami plans for many, with Ankit Shah, a Mulund resident, expressing, “There has been no gas supply since morning. As we never keep a backup, there were problems. We could not even make tea in the morning.”
Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) released a statement explaining that a landslide had caused damage to a pipeline near New Agarwal Hospital and Swati Suvidha Apartments on RRT Road in Mulund West. As a precautionary measure, MGL temporarily suspended gas supply to Mulund East, Mulund West, and Kopri in Thane East. An MGL official noted, “MGL’s emergency response team was activated, and rectification work was promptly carried out.”
