Members of Parliament, namely Preneet Kaur, Manish Tewari, and Vikramjit Singh Sahney, today urged district officials in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar to expedite the works allocated under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development funds.
Chairing a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee, the trio of MPs reviewed the progress of various grants released by them for different development works in the district. While assessing the current status of the works, the MPs requested Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Aashika Jain to appoint a Nodal Officer for regular follow-up on the works and to send them a weekly report on the progress made in the previous week.
MP Manish Tewari, inquiring about the progress of Bhajouli and Bathlana Village works, emphasized the need for utilizing grants in a time-bound manner to ensure the timely release of the next installment. He also sought information on the status of the Sewerage Treatment Plants in Kharar and Kurali, stressing the importance of proper planning to provide basic amenities in the face of increasing urbanization from Zirakpur to Kurali. Tewari was informed about two sewer projects planned in Zirakpur at Sanoli and Bankarpur.
MP Preneet Kaur, inquiring about the status of grants for Tiwana, Amlala, Khedi Gujjran, and Bijanpur, emphasized the timely commencement and completion of works to benefit the residents of these villages. She insisted on uninterrupted power and water supply during rainy days, particularly for residents in High Rise Towers. Kaur also called for builders and developers to be directed to equip their housing projects with proper water disposal and power supply arrangements, addressing issues observed in previous floods.
Member of Rajya Sabha, Vikramjit Singh Sahney, while reviewing projects initiated in Mohali, highlighted the crucial project of upgrading Manakpur Sharif. He emphasized the transformation of the ITI into a Center of Excellence for imparting skill training to youth, prioritizing the enhancement of skills and job creation. Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain assured the MPs that she would personally monitor all projects weekly, expediting any lagging work.
