Chandigarh District Court has issued a notice to MP Kirron Kher in response to a petition filed by businessman Chaitanya, who is accused of an 8 Crore fraud. A hearing was conducted regarding the case, during which Chaitanya, the accused, applied for anticipatory bail. The court, in the course of the hearing, sought responses from both the Chandigarh Police and MP Kirron Kher.
The case is scheduled for a hearing on December 22, during which MP Kirron Kher and the police’s lawyer will present their respective responses. The court will subsequently make a decision on the matter.
The accused, Chaitanya, is currently missing from his residence. Despite the police issuing notices for his arrest, he is not present at home. This situation mirrors a previous instance when Chaitanya disappeared following a complaint filed against him by MP Kirron Kher. However, in compliance with the court’s order to suspend the arrest until December 18, he had returned home and provided a statement at the police station.Chaitanya, residing in Manimajra, had sought security from the High Court, citing a threat to his life from MP Kirron Kher and Sehdev Salaria.
On December 11, the High Court granted security to Chaitanya and his family for a week. On the same day, MP Kirron Kher had filed a fraud complaint against Chaitanya with the SSP.In her complaint, MP Kirron Kher detailed that in August 2023, Chaitanya persuaded her to invest in various schemes. On August 3, the MP transferred Rupees 8 Crore via RTGS from HDFC Bank’s Juhu branch to Chaitanya’s ICICI Bank account in Panchkula. Chaitanya had promised to return the amount with an 18% interest within a month. However, it was later revealed that Chaitanya had misappropriated the funds for personal use, prompting MP Kirron Kher to demand a refund.
